Spanish High-Level Scientific Infrastructures (Part III)

Heliac Flexible TJII
The Heliac
Flexible TJII is the result of the studies realized by the team of physicists and engineers of the CIEMAT in collaboration with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory ORNL (United States Of America) and Garching's IPP (Germany). The construction of Heliac Flexible has been realized separately by basic components, awarded to diverse European companies. 60 % of the expenditures have been re-invested in Spanish companies.

The joint action of the magnetic fields of the TJII generates "bean" shaped magnetic surfaces that the particles of the plasma guide in order that they do not hit with the walls of the vacuum chamber. The systems of control and of acquisition of information have been designed and developed by the CIEMAT. The purpose of the experimental program of the TJII is to take a closer look to the physics to a device a magnetic spiral axis and great flexibility into the magnetic configurations. Also approaches to problems of the physics of magnetically confined plasmas, are studied. Problems of great interest for the fusion community.
